Fly Ash

Heidelberg Materials Cement Norway handles the sale and distribution of fly ash for cement and concrete production. The fly ash is certified in accordance with the requirements of NS-EN 450-1, Class A.

Fly ash available for concrete production from the silo stations at Slemmestad, Stavanger and Kjøpsvik has extended conditions of use in accordance with the letter of acceptance from the Control Council and the Norwegian Public Roads Administration’s concrete specifications SV-Standard and SV-Kjemisk.

Facts about fly ash

• Fly ash is a processed by-product of coal used in coal-fired power stations, and is used in cement and as an additive in concrete, for both environmental and technical reasons. Fly ash contributes, among other things, to reduced CO2 emissions; it makes the concrete denser and helps to reduce heat build-up, thereby reducing the risk of cracks in massive structures.
